The broad framed tom sat just outside camp, his tail curled around his dainty white paws; the tip twitching from time to time. He was waiting for his friend, and one of the largest warriors in his clan to appear before him. The Irish Wolfhound was an amazing attribute to the clan. During leaf-bare he new that she would be able to put her full strength to good use. She would be able to take down larger prey, but for now with the leaves beginning to fall and the forest changing colors, a simple rabbit hunt would be fine.
Ears pricked he let his sapphire eyes capture the forest around him. He knew Alaula would be arriving soon, he hoped he wouldnt be waiting to much longer. Unsheathing his claws, he dug them into the soft earth underneath him, enjoying the cool dampness underpaw. He was itching to run, to snag prey with his claws and feel the rush of the kill. Licking his lips, he awaited his warrior.

Trotting almost silently, Alaula began to walk towards her destination: to see her leader. She had been waiting a long while for a hunt for their clan. As she began to smell her leader not too far away, she also detected another thing, which she knew was a rabbit. She began to change her path towards the rabbit. Any little bit of food would help the clan. She noticed that the rabbit was an older one, whom probably would not last too much longer. She slipped into her stalking mode and pursued the creature. What seemed like many minutes later, she was close to the rabbit. After a quick pounce, she had missed her target. She started to run off after it, soon catching up to it. After a quick pin, she managed to capture and kill it quickly. She caught her breath and picked up the rabbit, getting ready to follow the scent back to her leader.
After a few minutes of walking, she finally saw Wishingstar. As she approached her, she laid the rabbit on the ground. "You'll have to pardon my tardiness. This rabbit was a catch along the way. Hopefully we are able to catch more for the clan," she said in her soothing voice. "I can bury it in the ground while we catch other prey if you wish me too, so that no other creature will get it." She examined the tom, and wagged her tail slightly.

Blinking in surprise at the sudden appearance of the dog, it took Wishingstar a moment to make out the rabbit laying before him, and her. "Wow, decided to get a head start on todays hunting, eh?" He chuckled, before flicking his tail towards the camp entrance, which was only a few foxlengths away. "How about you go and place that on the fresh kill pile, im sure the apprentices will be enthusiastic about not having to hunt for the elders. One less job for them"
With a smile the blue tabby tom, looked at her, waiting for her to do as he asked. "Hurry though, we are losing daylight!"

Lula nodded her head and picked up the rabbit. She trotted quickly to the kill pile and placed the rabbit down. After she had done her job, she quickly made it back out to Wishingstar in only a matter of minutes. "Where shall we hunt today?" After looking around and smelling the air, she turned back to her leader. "I smell a young deer family not too far North."

A gentle breeze ruffled his fur and sent a small flurry of leaves cascading around them, on in particular sticking itself on his back. He thought for a moment before getting to his paws. "You are a fine warrior to this clan Alaula. I want you to know this before i continue. I know i have held you back multiple times before when you have asked to hunt the deer, i was just afraid to lose you. I have heard stories of deer trampling cats and smaller dogs when feeling threatened and i had my doubts."
His eyes gazed over her strong, tall shape before he nodded. "I have no doubts now, you have grown into a fine young hound; Alaula. I would be honored to follow you, and assess how well your hunting skills have really gotten."
Wishingstar once again gave a small smile before taking a small step back, "Go ahead and take the lead, i shall follow."

As Lula listened to her leader, she gave a slow nod. "Thank you for your trust, leader, I shall try not to disappoint you." She was always formal when it came to addressing her leader. She put her nose back up in the air, smelling for the trail of deer. She finally caught their trail, and she lowered her head to the ground and began to follow. After a few steps, she flicked her ears back to listen for Wishingstar following her. The deer were relatively close, yet she knew it would take quite some time to stalk up on them effectively.

The ferns that grew on the trail brushed their leaves against his mottled coat, giving him a small comfort that once again, his clan remained in their own territory. His paws steps glided silently across the dappled grass, his ears pricked and alert to any signal that his warrior could give him. Lifitng his own head, he opened his mouth to scent the smells that drifted around him. He could smell the deer, and he was surprised at how close it seemed to be near the camp.
Without a word he slipped up beside Alaula, and softly whispered into her mind. 'It seems strange at how close this herd is, normally they avoid our territory. Lets keep more alert just in case, okay?'

Lula nodded her head softly, looking around for any danger. She kept walking slowly, finally seeing the deer in her sight. Why would they come into this territory when they normally did not? After a few more steps, Lula smelled something she never usually did: another canine. She stopped in her tracks, her ears laying back as she looked over at Wishingstar, hoping that he could smell the odd canine scent as well.

Pulling his lips back in disgust, Wishingstar sniffed the air multiple times, his fur bristling. What the hell was a mangy dog doing in his territory. A low growled rumbled in his throat as his ears flicked back. "Whats a dog doing here." he spat, making sure that hatred filled the word. He loved the dogs in his own clan, but anything outside of his apprentices and warriors were threats, and meant nothing to him.

Alaula breathed deeply, looking at Wishingstar. "I desire to still get a deer for our clan. If you keep a lookout, I can catch one," she whispered. "I can help you with the dog after we secure the food. There's no telling when an opportunity like this will happen again. The dog probably came into the territory with the deer." She started watching the prey, beginning to pick which one she would go after. there was a younger female deer, probably just above its first birthday. It was big enough to feed many clan members.

Wishingstar hesitated a moment before dipping his head to her. "Alright, but be aware of your surrendings.." He trailed off. This Female wasnt a kit, this was a warrior, and a smart one. "Goodluck" He meowed softly, his eyes shining. "I know you can do it."

A small tail wag showed the appreciation of the comment. She took a few steps before setting her eyes back on her target. She lowered her body into the crouching position to stalk the prey. After slowly sneaking closer to the deer, she laid her ears back and crept closer. She suddenly pushed off with her back legs, jumping at the doe. After closing her massive jaws around the animal's throat, she crushed it's neck. She saw a buck out of the corner of her eye getting ready to kick. She avoided the first two kicks, which she was happy for. She didn't see the other buck coming up behind her, trying to save the doe. After the second buck kicked out, it struck Lula on the left side of her ribs, and she felt a crack. She dropped the doe out of her mouth, yelping in pain. She turned to the two bucks that were getting ready to charge and let out a ferocious bark. One charged her, and she slipped out of the way, her teeth catching out to grab the buck's front leg. This tripped the animal, causing it to thud to the ground.
Shocked, Lula jumped on top of the animal, crushing its airways and snapping its neck. The other buck and the other female deer around her looked on in fear and fled for their lives. After all the deer were gone, Lula looked down at her two prized kills. Both were fairly heavy and would require quite the strength to pull back. Lula was proud of herself, giving a celebratory tail wag. After a few seconds, she suddenly heard a deep growl from not even two meters away. She turned to her left to come face to face with this male wolf.
Lula's ears fell back and she bared her teeth. She knew what the wolf wanted: her kill. "Go find your own, outsider," she growled angrily. "You are not to be on this territory." She saw the wolf's face turn into one of hatred. He started to lean forward, wanting to snag the doe and run. Lula would have none of it, and she leaned forward, biting the male wolf on his throat, causing him to yelp out as she did not minutes before. He backed up a few steps and then jumped on Lula, pinning her to the ground.
"I'll show you to try to fight me," his deep voice bellowed. He had his paws on her neck and was pushing her air supply down. Lula's senses started to get fuzzy. She had to do something soon, or she would lose her catch and disappoint her leader. She could not let this wolf hurt her leader! She had to protect him! She used her back paws and scratched his underbelly. She felt his hold loosen a little, and she flipped him over, biting him again on his throat. A low threatening growl came out of her mouth, and she saw the wolf show signs of submission.
Lula took a chance and lightened her hold, seeing what he would do. He stayed on the ground, showing all signs of submission. "If I ever find you on this territory again, you will not live to see another day. Now get out!" She snapped. She saw him roll over and tuck his tail, running off fast.
Only after he had put enough distance from Lula and Wishingstar, did she turn towards her leader. She whined a little bit, blood draining from a smaller wound on her neck. "I.. I am sorry I got hurt.. But I do not think he will be back any time soon." She blinked her eyes and examined the deer. "I think I can drag them both home."

(To bad my medicine cat is currently doing homework and cant join us atm)
Wishingstar stood there in shock, his paws rooted to the ground, the bucks had charged his warrior and he watched in anguish as Alaula let out a yelp that sent fear running down his spine, had she been horribly hurt?? Paralyzed?? Oh why had he let her do this! The leader wanted to move, but knew if he got in the way it may only make things worse. Watching on with fear in his sapphire eyes, it soon turned to amazement as she took down another deer. That is, until the herd moved on and in its place was a wolf. Or he assumed it was a wolf. Never in his life had Wishingstar seen a wolf before, it was much bigger then a normal dog, with hard lean muscles and a dark grudgy pelt.
Giving a snarl the leader tensed his hind quarters, preparing to throw himself down the hill towards his warrior when she whipped out, and started to speak in the same snarling voice he knew he would have been doing as well. The next moment was a blur as the large wolf lunged at her, and they were a wrestling and writhing ball of teeth and claws. "Alaula!" He yowled, plunging down the grassy slope. As he skid to a stop only a few fox lengths away, the blue tabby watched her back up, and the large canine race away, tail tucked in submission. "Great job!" He breathed, his voice shaky. "He wont be back will he?"
Giving a shake of his head, he listened to her next words before gasping. "You have nothing to be sorry about at all, if that wolf had gone any farther he could have easily attacked the clan." Looking her over he watched as blood dripped from her neck. "You need to go see Dreamweaver when we get back to camp, and dont over do it dragging these deer back. IF you feel like you cant we can leave them here and i can send out a patrol to get them back later."

Alaula breathed deeply, still not quite back to normal after that crazy happening. "He looked like the one who killed my family, but it is highly not likely."
She turned towards the doe and thought of a way to get themboth home. She put her jaws on the does throat and pulled its body up onto her own back, carrying it there. When it was steady, she grabbed the back pegs of the buck and started to drag it towards camp. She paused and looked at her leader, making sure that he was following. She did not want to let him get hurt.
